Ophiuchus is one of the most controversial zodiac signs. Some don’t think this constellation is classified as a Zodiac, while others do and resonate with it. This sign is different from the other signs and is such a mystery to many. Its element is aether or spirit – meaning the divine oneness, consciousness and higher power. With this element being added to the zodiac this completes the 5 elements of life.

This sign is very smart, creative and a captivating healer. They are known to shut people out whom they mistrust and like to surround themselves with people who are honest. With this mysterious nature, these signs love to spend time alone and are often introverted. They are great at keeping secrets and are extremely faithful to the ones who are close to them. Their captivating energy makes people intrigued but they tend to shy away and not show the many layers to themselves to people they do not trust. They are very intuitive and are able to pick out the “snakes” in the crowd – hence their symbol serpent bearer. Ruled by the planetoid, Chiron – that represents our deepest wounds and efforts to heal-  this sign’s purpose is to heal themselves and others. When aligned, they are impactful spiritual healers, but when they are not aligned, they tend to be a “wounded healer” much like the centaur that this asteroid was named after; who was a teacher and healer who could not heal himself.

Constellation and Mythology

The Constellation straddles the celestial equator, between Scorpio and Sagittarius. Its symbol is represented by a man holding a snake and is referred to as the Serpent bearer.  It is associated with Asclepius, the god of medicine. Asclepius was the son of Apollo and was taught by Chiron, the centaur, and was said to have incredible healing powers, including bringing back people from the dead. This worries Hades- the god of the underworld- and he had asked his brother Zeus to Kill Asclepius and have him banned to the stars.
